Help the Disabled
March 28th, 2010
Description: The disabled have many special needs, some of which modern technology can fill. The computer can be a great equalizer. Voice recognition and synthesis systems can aid with disabilities. Computer control systems can automate many physical activities in the home and office such as opening doors, preparing food, and moving about. Those with learning disabilities can be helped with computer tutorials since they can be tailored to individual needs and used repeatedly. In fact, the computer can aid those with many types of disabilities, both mental and physical. You can use your expertise to help these people lead productive and normal lives by introducing them (or those who care for them) to the computer.
Clientele: Anyone with a disability of any kind can often be helped, even if it is in a small way, by modern technology. Since the computer is so versatile it can be used in a variety of ways, either with special hardware or software. You can help these people directly or offer your services to care facilities.
